Food Security in South Sudan
Regina Ihisa Okello readying boiled cassava for sale at a small local market to support her family in Imurok Payam in Eastern Equatoria, South Sudan on 9 August 2014. Her father is a government soldier, and has been away for about a year. Having come to her current home after having had to flee fighting in Juba in December 2013, the family receives no support from him—locals say that soldiers frequently go unpaid for long periods of time. Facing acute food insecurity, her family received seed to plant from Plan International.
