'Gaby Stone', emerging from his makeshift sleeping place in a half-finished, abandoned building in Avenor, a slum in Ghana's capital, Accra. Fortunate to have a mosquito net to protect him from malaria, he shares this room with as many as fifteen people at times, most of whom have no such protection. He moved to Accra from Kumasi in the hope of earning a better living. He previously worked for a construction firm, and turned to shoe repair when the project ended. In spite of the hardships he faces, he says life is better in Accra than where he was before.
